He is survived by his wife Anpakitta, who he married in 2011 and eight children. Ulliott grew up in Hull and left school at 15 without any O Levels and his poker career nearly collapsed after two spells in prison - one after he became involved with a safe cracking team at the age of 21 and another when he served 18 months aged 28 for a fight outside a nightclub. The Dead Man’s Hand, as this combination is known, takes its name from one of the most legendary incidents in poker history. The poker player has won more than £4million in a career that included a World Series of Poker bracelet in 1997 and a World Poker tour title in 2003. Ulliott was given the nickname by fellow poker player Stephen Au-Yeung after a poisonous fish that eats everything in the water. Ulliott shot to fame on the cult Channel Four series Late Night Poker in 1999 where he became known for his trademark orange-tinted shades, sharp suits and gold knuckleduster rings spelling out the words ‘Devil’ and ‘Fish’. “It is what I am good at and this is no different.” “ All my life I have had rubbish hands and I have managed ot turn them around. He said: “I don’t think cancer has any chance of taking me. Just six days ago on April 1 Ulliott told his local paper the Hull Daily Mail that he was determined to beat cancer.
